TIRANA, Oct 21 – The Forum of Albanian Lawyers was against the draft law on the profession of Lawyers that has been sent to the parliament for approval calling it anti-constitutional and strangling for the legal defense.
Some 4,000 lawyers expressed their opposition in a joint statement also saying they were not asked at all how a new law could arrange their activity.
They claim that the new law not only doe not improve the existing situation and the law but takes it aback.
They say that the draft law puts their profession under the governance of the executive and the court system, thus violating their independence.
They asked the parliament leadership not only not to include it in the near agenda but also turn it back for discussion and have their opinion.
They also threatened they will make it inoperational if it turns into a law.
