Local authorities’ officials arrested for corruption

FIER, Jan. 15 – Two officials of the local governments in Frakull, Fier district, were arrested and charged with abusing their post and having falsified documents, police reported Tuesday.

Alket Rushi, 34, and Izet Aliaj, 50, are accused of collaborating with each other to seek to possibly steal part of a fund of some 8.7 million leks that were set aside to compensate owners of the land used for a water supply system in the commune.

Another official is also being sought for involvement in this plan.
