Yesterday, Lorik Cana, the Olympic Marseille captain and Albanian international has confirmed his intentions to leave Velodrome at the end of the season. The powerful midfielder said to the Albanian media that he is convinced in his decision to continue his career elsewhere from Marseille where he has yet to win an important trophy.
“I think this is my last season in Velodrome and I’m expecting a contract from Bayern Munchen.” said Cana in an interview for “Vizion Plus”, an Albanian TV station.
The German team has been after Cana for some time now, whom they judge to be the ideal replacement for Van Bommel. The Dutch international is thought to join his former club, PSV Einthoven, in January or during the summer transfer window at the latest.
Frank Ribery, a former Marseille player and Cana’s former co-player, moved to Bayern a year ago for a record 30 million Euros. The two players are though to be close friends, something that can facilitate the transfer of Cana to the German side.
Everton and Arsenal are two other teams looking to secure Cana’s service, but Bayern’s advantage is that it can always offer Champions League participation for Cana, given their decades’ long domination of the Bundesliga
