Maroni pledges further support to Albania’s visa liberalization

TIRANA, Nov 18 – Italian Interior Minsiter Roberto Maroni made a visit to Tirana Wednesday to meet with top local officials and also pledge his country’s further support to Albania’s integration efforts into the European Union, especially on the visa liberalization regime.
Maroni said that in the next meeting of European countries’ counterparts he would stress the need to give that regime to Albania during the first half next year.
“Albania has fulfilled all the criteria,” he said.
“Italy’s commitment and support to Albania’s integration into the EU and on the visa liberalization is a natural fact which in a broader context should bring about the integration of the whole region,” Maroni said.
Maroni discussed with Albania’s counterpart Lulzim Basha on the bilateral cooperation in the fight against organized crime, drug and human trafficking, which they considered as a model giving good results.
