TIRANA, Sep 8 – Miners held what they called a symbolic strike to remind the government and parliamentarians of their request a higher salary and pension, as well as shorter working hours.
Fiqiri Xibri of the Miners’ Association said that following the protest in front of the parliament’s headquarters, they may hold a larger protest on September 26 and may resume their hunger strikes in October.
The miners are demanding higher wages, retirement after 20 years of work and a higher pension.
