TIRANA, Jan. 18 – Foreign Minister Besnik Mustafaj met Thursday German ambassador to Tirana Hans Peter Annen to know the European Union agenda for the next six months. Germany leads the EU rotating presidency during the first half this year. Annen said that Western Balkans was one of the topics of concern for the German presidency, including further EU extension and especially the Kosova status, according to a ministry statement. Mustafaj pledged to Annen his country’s close cooperation with Germany in fulfilling the Stabilization and Association Agreement Tirana signed last year, which is considered as a first stop toward membership. Free movement of the Albanian citizens was a main topic of discussion. Albania is negotiating with the EU on facilitating the visa procedure for a number of different groups of the society, following the signing of an agreement with the block to accept illegal immigrants back home.
