TIRANA, Jan. 22 – Albanian Foreign Minister Besnik Mustafaj regretted Monday the fact that Serbia’s elections showed the political group gaining most votes was that of the radicals. “It (victory of the radicals) is a concern, first of all for Serbia, but also for the region,” said Mustafaj, according to a news release from the foreign ministry. “There is hope as it seems that the radical segments of the Serb politics do not dominate the parliament at that level to govern Serbia.”
“I hope that those formations following the European trend will manage to collaborate to create a government that should fulfill two goals which are best for Serbia: first, to establish and strengthen cooperation with the Hague Tribunal and, second, to manage peacefully and realistically the process of Kosova’s independence.” “The government of the Republic of Albania is ready to intensify bilateral diplomatic ties with Serbia’s government that will come out from pro-European and pro-Atlantic segments,” he said. “We are ready to support the Serbia integration process into the Adriatic 3 project as the surest road to NATO integration. We consider that what the region needs is that Kosova’s independence be followed in a peaceful and dignitary way that would serve peace and stability for all.”
