TIRANA, Jan. 20 – The Netherlands reassured Tirana of their full support in taking ahead the process of evaluation of the steps undertaken from the tiny Balkan country along its road map for the free-visa regime.
Interior Minister Lulzim Basha made a visit to The Hague where he met with his Dutch counterpart Guusje Ter Horst and also Justice Secretary Joris Demmink.
Basha informed the Dutch officials of his gaovernment’s steps in complying with the road map requests like issuing biometroic passprots, installing border control systems and information analysis and also on the concrete results in the fight against organzied crime.
Ter Horst considered as successful Tirana’s fight against the organized crime and clearly said that Albania was considered as a safe country.
Demmink, on his part, highly evalauted the steps on broder management control saying that Albania in many aspects had more advanced technology compared to many EU member countries.
Albania expects two other EU mission that will monitor its steps along the road map list. The next EU mission is expected in February.
Albania expects Brussels to discuss its request on the visa-free regime in July this year. It expects a positive answer that would let its citizens to travel without needing a visa in all EU member countries included in the Schgen area.
Albania and Bosnia did nto join Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia which earned that right last year.
