TIRANA, Aug 24 – A recent decision by the government to allow the construction of two car parking lots in Tirana became an issue of debate among the political parties of the leftist coalition. The government allowed the Tirana city hall to build the parking lots under Rinia park and near the national soccer stadium. The Socialist Movement for Integration, which has repeatedly debated the main opposition Socialist Party that runs the city hall, claimed the parking lots would destroy the green park. Following that, the vice mayor of the capital, Eduard Shalsi, said the green park would not be damaged as the parking would have four floors underground and would serve to speed traffic in central Tirana.
