TIRANA, July 17 – Fatmir Leli, a well-known and experienced television cameraman died at the age of 52. The cause of death is listed as a heart infarct.
Leli, born in Tepelena, had studied to become a cameraman and in 1978 he began work at the Albanian public television station.
He was among the first seven technical operators at the TV station.
He left public television to go to the private Top Channel two years ago.
He has collaborated with many producers such as Pali Kuke, Stefan Gaja, Ilir Kasneci, Gaz P쳳hllaku, Arjan Culiqi, and others.
“His passion promoted him to the post of the operator,” said his colleague Engjell Ndocaj, now deputy head of the TV station. “He was very self-assured, very energetic and tireless.”
He has used his camera for films, movies, and also spot news, like the Kosova war and other top events in the country.
His last shot to be recalled was coverage of President George W. Bush’s visit to Albania, his move from the airport and his visit to Fushe Kruje.
Scores of colleagues and friends accompanied him during his funeral Tuesday.
