TIRANA, Nov 3 – An open forum on world affairs was held last week to discuss Russia’s role in current international affairs.
The distinguished lecturer was Janusz Bugajski, Director of the New European Democracies Project, Center for Strategic and International Studies, Washington D.C. and other participants including reporters, editors, analysts and political scientists.
The main goal was to analyze recent developments in global affairs in context of Russia’s position and its relations with the main actors in the global arena. A major topic was Russia-US relations and the expected changes after elections in the US. The lecturer introduced the main problems and controversies of Russia-EU relations, stressing the need for a common EU policy vis-a-vis Russia.
Participants also discussed the role and influence of Russia’s foreign policy in the Balkans and its prospects for the future.
