TIRANA, June 23 – The opposition Socialist Party and its allies boycotted the parliament on Monday, complaining that the agenda for the next three weeks was set by the majority of the governing Democratic Party.
Further, they said the were opposed to speeding up procedures to pass presidential decrees on the nomination of Supreme Court judges, an issue gathering much attention at the moment.
The Socialists claim such moves would strip the president of his powers, which would be taken over by the government and prime minister.
The opposition also said the parliament had prepared false documents following the voting on Supreme Court judges last week, claiming that at least one of the judges already received the necessary votes, which the majority later denied.
