TIRANA, Sep 23 – Last weekend’s rally of the opposition did not calm down the disputes among its leaders of different political groupings.
That was also noted during the rally and in the speeches held from main opposition Socialist party leader Edi Rama trying to align the anti-government fight along peaceful and parliamentary methods, compared to a more aggressive Ilir Meta of the Socialist Movement for Integration asking for harsher steps to oblige Sali Berisha’s government to step down now.
A day later Rama said all the political fight had to be held at the parliament not in the streets.
But Meta responded accusing Rama and the Socialists of collaborating with Berisha. Meta said that they do not expect Berisha who had violated the constitution many times to improve.
Meta also said that he was still looking forward to creating a separate leftist coalition to run in the next year’s parliamentary elections.
“Only with concrete opposition actions, within and out of the parliament, only through blocking Sali Berisha, we could unblock the big institutional crisis in our country,” said Meta, who also repeated that the Socialists had already violated the agreement signed two years ago from five opposition parties.
