TIRANA, Nov 3 – His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, held a visit in Albania to meet with the country’s top leaders.
During the visit he was accompanied by His Beatitude Anastassios, Archbishop of Tirana, Durres and All Albania.
In the meeting with Prime Minister Sali Berisha, Theodoros II positively assessed the complete rebuilding of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania as well as the changes that have occurred in Albania during the recent years.
Berisha evaluated highly the role of Archbishop Anastassios for the revival of religion in Albania and in creation of the Albanian leadership heading the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania. He also mentioned the important role the Orthodox Church plays in spiritual development of Africa.
“Present-day progress of the world depends on the progress of Africa. This is the reason why the government of Albania has decided next year to take part in the assistance that will be given to that continent,” said Berisha
