Police analyse 2006 efforts

TIRANA, Jan. 19 – Fight against criminal organizations and corruption have been the two main issues followed by the police last year, a police report about 2006 said. Police Chief Bajram Ibraj said that fulfilling the required standards according to the Stabilization and Association Agreement signed last year with the European Union and the zero tolerance to crime project of the government were the basis of the police work during 2006. Police claimed good results in fighting organized crime with the arrest of many infamous alleged criminals. Preserving law and order during the forthcoming local elections will be a top priority for the police forces early this year, according to vice interior minister Gjergj Lezhja.
