TIRANA, Sep 14 – Albanian police have been involved recently in another area of fighting crime, that of stopping illegal trafficking of goods with people trying to bypass customs.
In an operation held last week police arrested four persons suspected of producing the labels for items and also using fake stamps and other documentation.
Police had started the investigation over a year ago checking how the accused falsified the labels of a trading company.
They usually faked labels of some construction materials imported from a company, bringing considerable financial damage to the company in the last two years.
In another operation police arrested three persons for also trying to smuggle goods illegally into the country. Two of them were drivers of a travel agency bus going to neighboring Greece. They were arrested while handing over a considerable amount of jeans trousers, t-shirts, and other clothing at the cost of 120,000 Euros.
