TIRANA, July 26 – Top police official Ahmet Prenci said the police have had much success during the first half of the year in their fight against organized crime.
Prenci said they had solved between 93 and 98 percent of all crimes committed, adding this was also a result of a closer cooperation with the prosecutor’s office.
Police have conducted 68 operations against drug and human trafficking, corruption, and grave crimes. They also have confiscated some 48 kilograms of heroin and cocaine, about two tons of marijuana and destroyed some 7,000 cannabis plants, while arresting 224 people.
Prenci said, however, that suicides and family crimes continued to remain a top issue of concern.
