TIRANA, Jan. 17 – Police report everyday scores of arrests around the country in an effort to install stricter controls. Wednesday police arrested four persons allegedly involved in drug trafficking in the capital Tirana. They also blocked about two kilograms of marijuana and cannabis sativa seed. Elidon Gjoni, 32, from Fier was turned back from Italy after serving a five year imprisonment in Italy for drug trafficking. He tried to enter Albania with a fake passport. Elvis Shehaj, 24, and Hasan Demiri, 32, were arrested Saturday in Tirana, also for drug trafficking.
Police arrested two persons for alleged theft of a car service in Fushe Mezes. Another person, a teenager from Sauk, was arrested for stealing a Toyota vehicle. Two other men were arrested while they were destroying a vehicle of a company. Four persons wanted for theft were arrested Saturday in Tirana.
Rexhep Elezi, 22, was arrested for sexual exploitation of a minor. Indrit Hanxhari, 24, a resident of Durres was stopped at Mother Teresa international airport trying to leave the country with a fake Czech passport. Another person named Alfred Gilaj, 21, was found with a fake Greek Schenghen visa at the airport as well. Dionis Ruka, 21, and Gentian Hasa, 23, were arrested after being found with false Greek residence documentation and a false Schenghen visa while trying to leave the country through the airport.
Klodian Krasniqi, 35, sentenced for theft, and Marlond Balla, 22, also sentenced for theft, were arrested Tuesday. Three other wanted persons were arrested Monday. They had been sentenced to different imprisonment terms for theft, attacking police officers and producing false documents.
In Lushnja police on Monday arrested Arben Zace, 26, working as a guard or a member of the local Aldo Bare gang. He is accused of trying to kidnap and fine certain persons in collaboration with some other persons.
