TIRANA, Aug 3 – Following the recent deaths in road accidents and the increasing number of cars with the arrival of Albanian immigrants, police have intensified their control on the roads all over the country.
Police have added their presence and also been harsher to violators of road traffic rules.
Police from the other forces were given instructions on how to assist the traffic police.
About 600,000 vehicles have crossed the country’s border crossings in the last two months, which are 130,000 more than a year ago.
Police called on drivers to strictly observe the traffic rules and lower speed, which together with the use of alcohol have been the main causes of accidents.
In the first seven months this year police have set some 355,000 fines, 70 percent out of them due to high speed, and stripped 6,000 drivers of their licenses.
