INSTAT reported that for the third quarter of this year, the Import Price Index reached 94.6%, which saw an increase of 0.9% from the same period of the last year. Compared with the second quarter of 2020, the Import Price Index increased by 0.3 %. According to the experts, the rise on import prices are related to the on-going pandemic, which has made more difficult the process of transportation of the goods, followed also by a weaker demand on these goods.

At the other hand, the pandemic has helped the increase of demand on pharmaceutical and other communication products. From the various multivitamins and antibiotics to medical products such as blood pressure monitors or oximeters, the rise of demand for these goods has been quite atypical. The same can be said for computers products, which are essential for smart working. This trend has been followed also by higher prices for these products.
