TIRANA, May 10 – Prosecutor general Ina Rama made known that the investigation of alleged money laundering of the British-Bosnian businessman Damir Fazlic ended and was considered close.
A statement said the prosecutors had asked for assistance from their counterparts in other countries from where they had gotten no response, or had not secured enough evidence to start charges against the businessman.

Fazlic was involved in this alleged scandal after he was briefly detained and questioned in Sarajevo. Local media then started allegations that he was also involved in money laundering.
The media also said that Fazlic was assisted by Prime Minister Sali Berisha’s daughter, a lawyer, to help him make alleged land purchases in an area that is supposed to be turned into an industrial park.
The industrial park was turned down by the premier and his daughter.
Fazlic himself said in an interview that his businesses in Albania would probably give him up to 50 million Euros even though he had not started any concrete business.
The investigation immediately turned into a political fight used by the opposition to accuse the premier of favoring and profiting from the public property.
