TIRANA, June 20 – Raiffeisen Bank on Friday said an armed man stole an unspecified amount of cash from one of its branches in the Albanian capital, adding that none of its the clients or office personnel were injured during the robbery. The robbery occurred about 2 p.m.
Police have closed the office and are investigating the case. Police noted that, following a security alarm being activated during the robbery, special police forces arrived at the bank in five minutes.
Bank robberies are not common in post-communist Albania.
Austria’s Raiffeisen Bank has been in Albania since 2003 when it bought the last Albanian state-owned Savings Bank for 100 million Euros.
