TIRANA, Feb. 10 – Norway has Europe’s slowest car traffic between major cities. The last country that passed us was Albania. That is what local media in the Scandinavian country reports recently.
The estimated average speed between the major cities in Albania increased from 64.6 to 68.1 km / h from 2008 to last year. In Norway average speed decreased between the major Norwegian cities from 67.9 km / h to 65.0 km / h, according to figures from the Information Office for Road traffic.
Besides, a recent report of the World Bank gives other figures such as Albania having 48 cars per 100,000 population, which is still so below the 400-600 cars/100,000 inhabitants of Western European countries.
But local authorities give high figures of accidental deaths and that has become a serious problem to the government as well.
The following report from this developed Scandinavian country reports:
Vilrid Femoe, who heads the department of policy and strategy, told Aftenposten that regardless of the cause of the speed decrease, the development is contrary to the transport policy objectives. “Why not exploit the potential for better traction, when we know better roads often mean safer roads,” ask Femoe.
Then what could we say here in Albania? We may ask for better roads, traffic signs, better driving culture and also people’s behavior in the streets, stopping alcohol drinking, respecting traffic signs Ů
There is so much we need to do.
