TIRANA, March 15 – Six persons were arrested on Monday on human trafficking and prostitution charges after a one-month investigation. Police said the gang of six, among them a 17 year-old minor and a 41-year-old woman, operated in the southern city of Fier where they recruited young women to traffic them to Greece for prostitution. All the arrested persons were inhabitants of Fier and Vlora.
They were arrested on March 13 evening after trying to traffic a 20-year-ol girl through the Kakavija border crossing point with Greece. Police also found two other young women, aged 17 and 20, also intended for trafficking, during searches in the houses of the arrested people. An Ak-47, eight mobile phones, two cars and a considerable amount of cash were seized.
All the arrested members of gang will face trafficking charges in the Fier District Court.
