TIRANA, Sep 9 – Petro Koci, until recently a lawmaker for the main opposition Socialist Party, has announced the creation of a new political party, the Movement for Institutional Politics.
Koci has been joined by some lawmakers, formerly belonging to the Socialist party, who left the Socialist’s more than a year ago when the party voted for the majority’s candidate for president.
Since then, the group had been considered to be followers of former Socialist leader Fatos Nano, who has remained silent and had no reaction to the new political party.
It was first believed that Koci, following disagreements with Socialist leader Edi Rama, would join the Socialist Movement for Integration of Ilir Meta.
The socialist parliamentary group has been reduced, time and again, in the last three years.
