TIRANA, Jan. 18 – The Territorial Adjustment Council (TAC) has legalized 31 informal zones covering a total of 3,149 hectares in the districts of Tirana, Durr쳬 Shkodra, Gjirokastra and Elbasan. Within these zones, 23,091 informal buildings have been erected within 320 hectares out of the 3,149 hectares. The legalization of these informal zones and buildings will apply to 15,738 families.
The Agency for Legalization, Urbanization and Integration of Informal Buildings and Zones (ALUIZNI) proposed the legalization of these zones to TAC meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sali Berisha. The premier urged close cooperation and constructive dialogue between ALUIZNI and local governance authorities to ensure a smooth legalization process and guarantee the proper application of related legal procedures. Berisha also said that ALUIZNI should pay special attention to those areas which are close to archaeological and historical areas that should be considered off limits to the legalization process
