TIRANA, Dec 2 – Interior Minister Lulzim Basha met with Europol Director General Rob Wainwright and signed an agreement for strategic cooperation with that institution.
The deal aims at strengthening communication and exchange of information on criminal organizations or activities in Albania.
It also set the forms of cooperation in joint operations.
Basha considered the agreement as an important step in the reform of the Albanian police.
The minister restated his country’s full will to fight the organized crime with zero tolerance and make Albania the most difficult country in the region for the crime.
Wainwright highly evaluated Albania’s commitment in that fight and also its leading role in the region.
He said that Albania’s fight against organized crime was good for the country, for the region and the whole continent.
During his visit to The Hague, Basha also met with Dutch Minister on European Issues, Frans Timmermans, to discuss his country’s further steps toward the integration process into the European Union.
