TIRANA, June 17 – Albanian tax officials checked businesses along the western seaside and southeastern areas of the country, closing 15 and fining scores of other businesses.
Tax officials checked some 400 businesses in Durres, Fier, Vlora, Pogradec, Korce, Devoll, Shkodra, Velipoja, Lac, Lezha, Saranda, Himara, Delvina and Gjirokastra. Of those checked, 15 were discovered to have not paid regular taxes while 52 others paid taxes only occasionally. These businesses were also fined for employing hundreds of unregistered personnel.
