TIRANA, Dec. 24 – Some 400 tons of firecrackers have passed the customs points this month and more is expected to come, according to authorities.
They mainly come from China ,which is a main supplier of fireworks in the world.
Authorities said they expect the figure to reach some 800 tons, which is higher than last year at 784 tons.
Albanians have become used to using fireworks over New Years eve, despite frequent injuries from failed explosions or incidents.
Some days ago, the government prohibited the sale or use of some Chinese toys made of health threatening material, in accordance with European Union rules.
Firecrackers were not included among them.
