TIRANA, March 30 – The Albanian government said they had already completed the answers to 2,283 questions posed by the European Union.
Albania applied for candidate status in April last year and in December Brussels handed over the questionnaire Albania needs to prepare before making the evaluation.
Prime Minister Sali Berisha committed all proper government organizations to complete the questionnaire ahead of time.
Monday afternoon the Inter-Ministerial Committee for Integration made the final approval of the answers to the EC questionnaire, which the premier considered “a major event of Albania’s EU integration process.”
Following that, the questionnaire will be deposited with the European Commission where it is to be assessed.
The questionnaire involved, based on chapters, from 400 to 1200 officials of all levels. There were also hired 28 foreign experts and a considerable number of institutions and international agencies, which carried out consultations over problems and specific issues of the questionnaire, according to the premier.
The answers make a clear and accurate panorama of all the undertaken reforms that have transformed the Albanian society and Albania in general, as well as present the vision for the future developments in all fields, he said.
They will be handed over to the European Commission which will make the assessment.
“The reforms have been and remain our main motto,” said Berisha.
Last year Albania also became a NATO member.
