TIRANA, Feb. 16 – Tirana International Airport (TIA) donated EUR 10,000 to families in need in the Regions of Shkodra and Lezha that have been devastated by the recent flood in Northern Albania.
“We have a strong belief that these people will shortly regain control of their lives. We intend to support those that have suffered from the flooding, and we believe that everyone, including citizens, businesses and government, share that commitment,” said Andrea Gebbeken, TIA’s Chief Executive Officer.
In addition to running the daily operations at the Airport, TIA is committed to improving the quality of life in nearby residential areas, and has done so through sponsoring school restructuring and providing local employment. The Company demonstrates its solidarity with the local community and has previously given support following other tragic events in Albania.
More than 11,000 hectares of land, 5,000 houses were flooded following heavy rain and snow in early January this year.
