TIRANA, Dec. 7 – Albania and Italy will launch a strategic partnership in 2010 to deepen economic, tourism, defense and environmental ties.
Confirming the plan in Tirana were the Italian foreign minister’s director general for Europe, Ambassador Mario Bovak, Italian ambassador to Albania, Saba D’Elia, and Prime Minister Sali Berisha.
Early next year, Berisha and Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi are expected to formally launch the arrangement, which includes political summits, economic forums and cultural events.
Since 1992, Italy has supported projects in the Balkan country totaling 600 million Euros.
