TIRANA, June 6 – Last week, Tirana International Airport held a ceremony to mark World Environment Day by planting several trees on its grounds.
Since it took over management of Tirana International Airport Mother Tereza three years ago, TIA has paid constant attention to environmental issues and increased awareness among its staff and those companies working at the airport.
“The environment remains, always, at the center of our attention, and our belief is that this position has borne fruit: if you look at our surroundings you can plainly see this. Planting these trees is another step we are taking in the same direction. By joining efforts with others in Albanian society who are sensitive to such issues, we hope to contribute towards a much needed change in the attitude towards the environment,” said Andrea Gebbeken, TIA’s top official. To bring into practice its environmental friendly convictions, TIA has put in place an Environmental and Quality Management System that deals with the monitoring of air, wastewater, potable water quality and noise levels at the airport.
