TIRANA, Jan. 4 – Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said the simultaneous acceptance of Croatia, Albania and Macedonia into NATO would make a very positive contribution to stability in the region.
The three countries, which have also signed the Adriatic 3 Charter supported by Washington, hope to become NATO members in April of this year.
But NATO has explicitly said everything depended on the individual performance of each country in military reforms and democratic developments.
“The acceptance of Bulgaria, Albania and Macedonia into NATO as part of the Adriatic Treaty would make a very positive contribution to stability in the region. The acceptance of only one or two of them would generate problems in the long run in terms of stability,” said Erdogan.
