TIRANA, Dec 24 – Turkish Parliament Speaker Koksal Toptan was on a visit to Albania during which he called to Turkish investors to bring their money to tiny Albania.
Toptan met with his Albanian counterpart Jozefina Topalli and also president Bamir Topi and Prime Minister Sali Berisha.
“Albania is a country in which tourism, energy and infrastructure investments may be made with confidence,” he said.
Toptan came to Albania after visiting Macedonia.
Toptan had a t뵥-ழ뵥 meeting with Topalli and chaired the Turkish delegation in talks with the Albanian delegation led by Topalli.
Topalli said that “Albania was pleased to see Turkey’s support during the troubled times in Kosova. I thank Turkey for ratifying an agreement on Albania’s accession to NATO”.
Turkey has very close cultural relations with the Balkans, Toptan said.
“Turkish-Albanian relations are very important for us. Albania has great influence on the Balkans,” Toptan said.
We appreciate Albania’s efforts for peace in the Balkans, Toptan said.
“We are pleased with the activities of big Turkish companies in Albania. Nonetheless, we must increase the trade volume of 800 million USD between Turkey and Albania,” Topalli said.
“We feel at home in Albania. There are no problems between Turkey and Albania. Our relations could be a role model for other countries. We are in agreement with Topalli to promote inter-parliamentary relations,” Toptan said.
“Mutual visits of our committees and friendship groups will benefit the two countries. However, excellent relations between our parliaments do not reflect on the economic sphere. Despite the increase in commercial relations in the recent years, we must facilitate more investments by Turkish businessmen in Albania. I would like to make a call to Turkish entrepreneurs from here: Albania is a country in which tourism, energy and infrastructure investments may be made with confidence. As a country with beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean, tourism investments in Albania would yield high profits,” Toptan said.
“Albania is an important country in establishing peace in the Balkans and making this peace permanent. Within this framework, it is important for Turkey to see Albanian membership in NATO and the European Union (EU),” Toptan said.
“With its reforms made, Albania deserves to be a member of the EU,” Toptan said.
