ROME, May 31 – Getting to know Kosovo and Albania, through their history, archaeology, literature, music, cinema, art, handicraft and folklore and spread the cultural heritage of these two Balkan countries. This is the ambitious project of the newborn Humanities Institute in Rome, dedicated to Pjeter Bogdani, a catholic bishop in Kosovo who in the 1600s fought against the Ottoman invasion in that land, ANSAmed reports. The institute was very much sought for by the ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo, Albert Prenkaj, and supported by the Ambassador of the Republic of Albania, Llesh Kola and will have activities of historical research other than initiatives concerning more contemporary issues. The creators of the centre say that they intend to document how European these countries actually are, in their history, tradition and ways. The institute will programme meetings, conferences, exhibitions and workshops. “In order to ease the dialogue” on every level with the national and international institutions, civil society, from universities to cultural institutes up to relations with religious institutions, including intellectuals, teachers, journalists, artists and writers.
