Albania plans to tap markets for new Eurobond issue of up to €500 mln

TIRANA, Dec. 12 – Albania is planning to address international markets again to secure financing for its declining but still high debt burden as the country’s five-year Eurobond matures by 2020. In its newly approved 2018-2020 mid-term debt management strategy, the Albanian government says  tapping international markets is an option to refinance its external debt and not affect domestic lending which has been struggling to return to positive growth rates amid poor demand and a high level of non-performing loans.
