TIRANA, Jan. 18 – Rovena Gashi, former director of the decriminalization unit and foreign affairs office in Tirana’s General Prosecution, lost the first court hearing against newly appointed General Prosecutor Arta Marku this week.

Marku was sued for lowering Gashi in rank “unconstitutionally” — in a wave of transfers ordered by Marku.

In this first hearing, Gashi asked the court for lawsuit insurance in relation to Marku’s order to demote her from being a director, but this was denied by the court.

While the administrative process has yet to officially start, Gashi’s lawyer à‡lirim Gjata said he’ll appeal the decision in the administrative Court of Appeals.
