TIRANA, Jan.14- Albanian cinematography will be represented in June’s upcoming “Genoa Film Festival”. The organizers of the festival have screened several Albanian films and have been positively impressed and have decided to offer them as part of the festival which will focus on a discovery of art which is unknown. Films from all time periods will be selected to be part of this festival and the official coordinator for the event handling the Albanian’s films will be Ilir Butka from the “Tirana International Film Fest”. Butka has been a strong advocate for the idea of understanding Albanian cinematography as a whole, despite the ideological coloring of the previous period, because the cinema of that time was creating the traditions that were carried out and altered later. Actually Albania is suffering the interruption of that tradition that saw many fine Albanian movies produced throughout the years. The promotion of Albanian films in international events such as the festival of Genoa is an important opportunity to present to the world the kind of art produced here. Recently, the head of the cinema school ‘Marubi’ and well known movie maker Kujtim ȡshku, “The Magic Eye” have won several international prizes following other Albanian movies which have been honored in events as prestigious a the Cannes festival.
