TIRANA, Nov. 26 – Albania’s women’s national football team will host group leaders France in a qualifier for Women’s Euro 2017 in a bid to secure the first points in Group 3 after having lost the first two fixtures against Greece and Romania.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of the qualifier, coach Altin Rraklli, a former striker of the men’s national side, described the Nov. 27 qualifier against France in Tirana as a tough challenge.
“Of course France is a tough opponent and have other targets compared to us but our team will give its best and this will be a very motivating match for us,” said Rraklli.
Asked about rumors of a possible terrorist attack, Rraklli said “I am focused only on the match and it is not up to a coach to answer about this.”
With only two matches played the Albanian women currently rank bottom in Group 3 which also features Romania, Greece and Ukraine.
The Albanian women’s national was established only four years ago and also participated in the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifying round.
