TIRANA, Jan. 24 – U.S. Ambassador Donald Lu addressed this week recent criticism levied by the Albanian opposition toward him and his EU counterpart for allegedly holding double standards when it comes to the implementation of the justice reform in the country.
Lu said Albanian politicians should stop complaining and get to work, according to the Albanian Service of the Voice of America.
He added that instead of blaming foreigners for problems of their own making, Albanian politicians should foster political dialogue and work together to implement the justice reform, including appointing the members of the High Council of Prosecution (KLP) and the High Judicial Council (KLGJ).
Moreover, Lu called on politicians to cooperate in order to solve their disagreements on the temporary chief prosecutor, to support beneficial laws and to offer sources that will enable the police and prosecution to arrest the heads of organized crime in Albania.
