TIRANA, July 25 – Prime Minister Edi Rama announced last Friday his wife Linda has given birth to a new baby son at a hospital outside Albania.
Prime Minister Rama, 50, said the couple had named the baby Zaho. The prime minister published a picture of the baby’s hand in his Twitter account, @ediramaal.
“Linda has given birth to Zaho,” Rama wrote.
The exact location of the birth was not announced, but Linda’s personal gynecologist said the birth was done by C-section outside Albania due to potential complications related to the mother’s age.
Linda is in her late 40s, and the announcement of the pregnancy took many Albanians by surprise. Both the prime minister and his wife have adult children from previous marriages.
“Linda has given birth to healthy baby boy. Both mother and baby are in good health,” said Ruben Moisiu, Albania’s top gynecologist, who had followed the prime minister’s wife pregnancy.
Edi Rama has been prime minister since September last year and is leader of the governing Socialist Party that came to power in June 2013 parliamentary elections. He married Linda, a former NGO manager, in late 2010.
