TIRANA, Nov. 9 – Artists from Austria, Albania, France and Germany have gathered to celebrate the 2011 Austrian Cultural Week in Tirana.
A single-room house has been set up in the yard of the National Gallery of Art, Tirana where five exhibitions and four concerts have been scheduled from Nov. 5 to 13.
The single-room house is a temporary, flexible exhibition concept, created by Philipp Morlock. As the name suggests, the house has one room and a simple roof form that is used for weather protection. It represents a refuge, a sanctuary, a place where you can keep something safe.
The event has already featured the ‘Long live Albanistan’ exhibition with Albanian artists Alketa Xhafa, Heldi Pema and Lulzim Mripa. Thursday, Nov. 10 brought paintings by France’s Marie Alice Sorieul accompanied by music by Ravel. A jazz night by the Ryan Langer Trio followed events on Thursday night at the Rogner Hotel.
Saturday Nov. 12 will feature an installation with participant students in the workshops offered during the Mosaic week. The event will close on Saturday evening with an exhibition at the single-room house featuring artworks by Myriam Holme, skafte Kuhn and Philipp Morlock.
Organized by the Austrian Embassy in Tirana in cooperation with the Ulysses Foundation, the Austrian Cultural week is aimed at deepening cultural exchanges by bringing a mix of provoking, experimental and classical topics.
