GJIROKASTRA, Sept. 17 – Dr. Alexandra Cleworth, member of the American Archaeological Institute, said during a visit to the southern town of Gjirokastra that it needed better management in order to preserve its ancient values. A group of the institute had gone to the town to consider further cooperation. Gjirokastra has been included in the sites protected from UNESCO as of international values. Cleworth said the town has some very original values for which local residents could help with investment. That would also pay back bringing tourists to visit the town. She said that the lack of management has reduced the number of tourists visiting the town.
