TIRANA, Oct. 19 – Kosova will award Ismail Kadare the medal Kepi i Shpreses se Mire – Fahredin Guga (Good Hope Cape) on his 70th birthday occasion. The jury said that Kadare is a “marvelous master of description, of the novel intertwining the Albanian historic past with his personal adventure.” “It is his merit that has revived the history of the Albanian miracle, of that culture which has become almost beyond times. The stories make Albanians the prehistoric population, unprivileged compared to others, but similar to others. The ceremony will be held Oct. 30 in Mitrovica. Kadare has also been declared a Honoris Causa from the Prishtina University. Kadare’s work has been translated in some 30 world languages. For many years he has been shortlisted for the Nobel prize.
