TIRANA, Albanian poet Ilir Shyta, known for his two poetry collections, “When Dea went mad” and ” Autumn caprice,” comes to the Albanian reader once again with an essay on Fan Noli’s drama “Israelis and Philistines” called “Truth Hurts The Heart”. Noli wrote the play when he was 20 years old. The theme running through this drama was that people cannot live without enemies and that the fight between opposites is intrinsically life itself.
The author describes his probe into the drama as a quest to draw universal lessons and see the Albanian experience in this context. Trying to adapt Noli’s dramatic logic, the author poses questions about Albania’s civic progress.
