“Elba – Folk” is awarded Golden Key prize in Moscow

TIRANA, Sept. 25- The folklore ensemble “Elba – Folk”, was awarded the Golden Key prize at a folk festival organized in Susdal, Moscow. Thirteen participants from three continents, Asia, Africa and Europe, competed in Russia. The announcement of the award was made by the president of “Elba Folk”, the music scholar Thanas Meksi. Meksi explained that the most acclaimed features were the folk costumes of Elbasan area as well as the respective dances. This was the first time in nearly 50 years that an Albanian folk ensemble competed in an international festival of this dimension. “Elba – folk” was established ten years ago in Elbasan and has a rich repertoire of songs, dances and performances from the central Albanian region noted for their artistic heritage. The ensemble has participated in activities in the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Macedonia and other locations.
