Albanian folk music in Tehran

Tehran. Dec29- The 23rd edition of the Fajr International Music Festival took place in Iran from December 21, till December 29 in Iran, at a number of concert halls in Tehran. Iranian and international musicians performed their music during these days. Particular of 23rd Fajr International Music Festival it was 3 divisions of Traditional and fusion, Classic, and Pop. Many musicians from several countries like Austria, Netherlands, France and India also participated in this event. From Albania, it was the Kruja Folk band who participated as a greeting band. The participating of Kruja Folk band in this major cultural event was made possible through an invitation from the music office of this festival and with the support of the embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Tirana, and especially the ambassador Mr. Eghbali Zarch. Kruja Folk band is part of the “Scanderbeg” ensemble founded in 1957; at the historical town of Kruja (Croya).This band performs folkloric music of Kruja itself and Albania also, promoting the cultural values of local and national tradition. Dressing local costumes and holding traditional musical instrument like “dajre”, mandolin, clarinet and accordion, plus two singers, Kruja Folk band performed at two of most prestigious concert halls in Tehran. Iranian audience warmly welcomed the Albanian folk music and the traditional costumes. Before the concerts began there were booklets given in Persian language with short information about “Kruja Folk” band and its members. The last song was performed in Albanian and Persian language by the band especially for this occasion. The experience brought the peoples of these two countries together through art, tradition and music. Fajr International Music Festival is Iran’s most prestigious Music Festival founded in 1986. The festival is affiliated with UNESCO and includes national and international competition sections.
