TIRANA, March 3- The works being done to build the new ring road of urban Tirana have brought to light a sudden but very welcome discovery, some roman ruins that form walls and castle which testify to the area being inhabited since ancient times. Professional diggings have started near the park of the parliament while every day the details add up. All specialists are working to redesign the rind road project so as to save these discoveries with significant historical importance.
The area has been declared protected under a special status. The expert, Sulejman Dashi is convinced the ruins belong to the Roman times and made of stone from the site of Brari. The width of the walls testifies them being build by soldiers and slaves and there is no evidence of riffle holes in the walls so they cannot be assigned to the medieval times.
The latest discovery is a stone path that runs to the alls of the castle. The foundation ‘Frasheri’ is actually supporting the expedition financially while the experts are waiting for a special fund to be disbursed from the government. The walls are as high as 3 meters at certain points. The ring road may be moved closer to the river while the existing road may be turned into a walking way for pedestrians.
