Remarkable Albanian Musicologist Ramadan Sokoli passed away

Personalities of politics and culture paid their final respects to the well known musicologist Ramadan Sokoli. Professor Ramadan Sokoli passed away last Monday in Tirana at the age of 88. One of the known figures of Albanian ethnic-musicology, he was born in the city of Shkodra on the 14th of June 1920. “Outstanding personality of studies in the field of Albanian spiritual heritage, the founder of our own science of ethnic-musicology, as his colleagues describe him, “He instilled the spirit into Albanian ethno-musicology with his publications which were first published in the fifties’. Different volumes by Sokoli have also been published i foreign languages. “The last of the Renaissance Fighters has passed away.” This is how the leading newspapers of the country commented on his death.(Tirana Times Staff)
